Well, due to an excellent response to the last post, we're definitely headed to Battle Point Park on Bainbridge Island this weekend. As of Tuesday, we have 16 people going (including maybes) and we should be able to get more. Dan and Sharif are playing in net. Anthony is available to play net as well, or just play out. THIS IS NOT an Vegas-player only event and is open to everyone. Even if you're not headed to Vegas in February, come join us and see just how nice an outdoor rink can be. Currently, the weather is calling for partly cloudy and 49 degress and no rain (we'll see if that holds up).
Yes, the rink is reserved. We owe the city of Bainbridge $35, so everyone owes me a whopping $2. Not only that, the local press may very well be there to do a story on us (the woman from Parks Dept said she would call her contacts at the paper and let them know we were coming).
DETAILS:
Ferry
Ferry leaves from the Seattle waterfront. You need to be driving NORTH on Alaska Way to get into the ferry terminal (you cannot turn right off of Alaska Way into the terminal while traveling south). We want to catch the 11:25 ferry to Bainbridge Island. So plan on BUYING your ferry ticket at 10:45. If you get there much later, the ferry may be full, and you'll have to wait for the 12:20. Once on the boat, let's meet in the galley....that's where they sell the booze.
If anyone is carpooling and needs to meet at the ferry, there is free, all day street parking on Alaska Way south of the ferry Terminal.
Directions and Parking
Easy. Get off the ferry and follow the flow of traffic straight on Rt 305. Drive 3 miles and turn L on Koura Road. Drive about a mile on Koura Road (to it's very end). Take a Left onto Miller Rd NE and a relatively quick right onto NE Arrow Point Drive. Check out the google map for more detail.
Park at the first park entrance you see. If that lot is full, drive around the park and enter the other lot on Battle Point Drive (there is a tiny parking lot on Frey road, but it's far far from the rink).
Carpooling
Adam is coming from Ballard and has room for 3 people. Jason is coming from Ravenna and has room for 4 people. Sharif is coming from the Central District and is looking to carpool. Contact these people on your own to set up rides.
If anyone has a PICKUP TRUCK, that would make transporting the nets much easier (otherwise we'll try to shove them in Jason's truck).
We'll see you on Saturday.
Comment
nets do NOT break down. when they were falling apart a few months ago, Steve put a sh*tload of screws in them.
is there anyone else going with a pick-up truck? with only a 1/5 chance that Jason can come, you need to ask yourself, "Do I feel lucky??!"
Something has come up, and there is an 80% chance that I cant go tomorrow. I wont know for sure unitll 9 in the morning. Sorry guys, gonna need to find another way to get the nets and gear there...
sorry
