hey all -
Great turnout this past week on a chilly day.
I hadn't been able to play the last several weeks, but this week I was there and happened to hear that there was was a verbal run-in with some people leaving the playground a couple weeks back. Based on what I heard at the game it didn't sound major... that was until I came home after Saturday's game and found out that it was my neighbors who were the ones involved.
Now, I wasn't there so I have no idea what actually transpired so no fingers pointed, but if even a fraction of what my neighbor said was true, we as a group have got to ensure that these things don't happen. I live very close to the playground, have kids going to Adams and I love playing some hockey. We have to remember that we get to play there for free, and that the kids have just as much right (or more) to that area than we do. Rarely have a seen someone not be considerate with keeping our area clear but if it so happens that someone is taking extra time getting their kids packed up so be it. In all the time I've been playing I haven't seen this happen with our group, so I'm hoping this was just an unfortunate exception.
Thanks for your consideration and understanding.

Thanks for the update Josh and that's fair enough - it's a 2-way street. I'd just hate to lose the space over something as controllable as this.
Agree. I think we did the right thing at first. We stopped the game, and waited for them to pass, as we usually do. Then after a few minutes of the parents being a bit oblivious, one of our group politely went over, indicated that we all had stopped for their safety, and asked if they could move over to the side. I think up to this point we were in the right. While we do play for free, if there were people playing basketball and I just stood in the middle of the game claiming I had a right to be there, I would be a dick. If politely asked to move aside, I would.
Sadly, the gentleman (your neighbor I guess) didn't take kindly to our request that he move a bit, and gave us some attitude. At this point, one of our players overreacted, and it turned into a bit of kerfluffle.
But point taken. Let's do our best to be considerate, and not fly off the handle when not necessary.
Point taken. Everybody shake hands and let's move on.
