Ok, let's play some hockey... and we're now insured, so we've got that going for us.

An update:

NO GAME THIS SATURDAY - at least at Salmon Bay ** UPDATE, all good

hey ballers -

I'm working with Salmon Bay in terms of extending the 'goodwill' offer about us continuing play at the school, but I've been informed this week that we're no longer allowed to use the surface until our permit is in place. I'm still working on getting liability insurance for the org - and of course we can't even apply for a permit until that gets signed - so I'm hoping that I can find some contingency plan that will work for the school.

Regardless…

A new complaint has been brought on us at Salmon Bay

hey everyone - just passing along an email I just received from the principal of Salmon Bay and my response. It was a very civil note, but its intent was quite strong and so everybody knows, from what I understand, the principal does have the power to prevent us from using the grounds. Does anyone with school board/legal experience want to step up and deal with this? I'm happy to represent, but I can't speak for my effectiveness...

Here's the exchange (in reverse order as…

Salmon Bay Parking

hey - just a heads up for everyone... I just received the below email via my soccer team - with soccer taking up a lot of parking, make sure you don't block a driveway etc. or you may get ticketed/towed.

thanks,

rob

Contact with Salmon Bay staff

For any of you interested, and for the sake of transparency - below is the content of the email I sent to Neil Gerrans, interim principal at Salmon Bay, after my discussion with him at last Saturday's game:

Hi Neil –

Sorry for the delay on getting in touch – work’s been crazy!

Thanks again for the civil conversation last Saturday. Per our discussion, I’m reaching out as a contact for our…

School playground usage update

Hey,

for any of you that are interested - After last week's repeat encounter with a local mom from Salmon Bay I reached out to the Seattle Public School's Ombudsman and I've posted his response at the bottom. I've highlighted the two potential items in red, but since:

  1. we never, ever bring alcohol to these things
  2. we do our best to ensure that the rest of the playground is safe and available to all other community members and
  3. the 'appropriate use'…

Canada roster? Bueller?

Fellow canuckleheads!

I see the USA team has to turn them back at the door... Is our roster still open? Is anyone really paying attention on that? Haven't seen a post on it, but that doesn't mean there wasn't one. If someone could help a brother out and post who might be making it this weekend, maybe we could instill some fear into the hearts of our American counterparts.

thanks!

This Weekend (Sat 28th) Adams' spring cleanup

It looks like the school is doing some spring cleaning this weekend, including a repainting of the US map on the blacktop. Time is supposed to run 10AM-1PM, but I'd imagine that the area will be off-limits throughout the day. Of course, the weather might not hold, so it could get pushed back to a different day. Anyone else know more about this? I'll try and get an update later this week.

Ballard Behavior

hey all -

Great turnout this past week on a chilly day.

I hadn't been able to play the last several weeks, but this week I was there and happened to hear that there was was a verbal run-in with some people leaving the playground a couple weeks back. Based on what I heard at the game it didn't sound major... that was until I came home after Saturday's game and found out that it was my neighbors who were the ones involved.

Now, I wasn't there so I…

New nets almost built...

The new nets that were dropped off last week at my place are almost built... didn't have enough time this week to do the final stringing of the tops. If someone wants to get them on Sat, they're just inside the gate. We'll probably need to find a new place to store them though, as once built I've realized that they're too big to fit under my deck.
