okay i spoke with greg schneuer and he asked me to make a post regarding the team USA roster. keep in mind, i'm not in charge here but merely getting the ball rolling. i spoke with a lot of folks on saturday and asked them to look for this post and please respond so we can judge interest and availability of players. olympia boys will have to hang tight for now and see how many people in seattle are coming.

a quick overview of the basic framework as it stands now:

either:

(I)

3 forward lines
3 defense
2 goalies

back-up goalie plays out in manner to be determined

-or-

(II)

4 forward lines - 11 players (+ backup goalie)
3 defense
2 goalies

obviously this means some people who want to play could be left off the team. while this is unfortunate, there is a growing sentiment among a number of players that they would like this once-a-year event to be competitive (insert muffled canadian laughter and snickers here). maybe this is an off-shoot of the positive experiences many have had at the tournaments (vancouver aside, ouch).

some of this already has been discussed and ron did a great job of laying the groundwork for this process.

how the roster is finally decided upon is unknown at this point so if you are interested please respond to this post so you will have the opportunity . . .

Adam, thanks much for showing up earlier than everyone else to sweep the rink, and then keeping score. Your bags of bread were awesome, too. Hope your knee is better soon!

If Kevin is playing goal for the US team, then I'll play for the Canadians and "accidentally" let the first five shots within 10 feet of the goal in. In reality, I'll switch off with Dan in goal. I could play out if needed (which doesn't seem likely as we've got a full roster), but I'd rather play goal. I think option 2 would work if we sub enough and that would allow more people to play.

I'd like to play defense

Kevin.... (a) Why are you commenting on playing for the USA team and (b) why are you wanting to play goal?

I am in. I am completely useless on D so forward/winger for me. Option I is slightly more appealing but both are fine.

If im in, I'll play where ever needed.

I'd be interested in playing as well, though do realize I'm new and not the most experienced player out there. I'll actually need to change a plane ticket if I do make the roster, so I'll be a day late for my in-laws family reunion....which is a good thing!

I'll play in net, just let me know what day this is.

Defense or depending on interest; line change coordinator/coach.
