I'm still new to SSH but it sounds like it's been a while since we've done an East vs. West game. I think it'd be fun to get the game going again.

A few of us have been tossing around the idea of playing the game out at the Bainbridge Island rink some time between now and the Can/Am game. It would make for a good warm up before the United States of America lays waste to the Great White North on June 2nd.

The initial proposal is to divide Canada along the Manitoba/Ontario border and to divide the US along the Mississippi River. Hopefully this shakes out to even teams but we can move around people if need be. Here's a map for those of you that skipped geography:

In order to gauge interest for the game, please fill out this Google Form: https://goo.gl/forms/syGmTNieodDT3HFM2

There a few different options for dates based on what the Bainbridge Island parks coordinator indicated was reservable. Once we have enough people committed to playing, I will go ahead and put down a deposit for the rink. It's $22/hr plus a $5 "you don't live on our island" fee. If we get a 5hr slot and 16 players (5 on 5 plus 3 subs each), the reservation comes out to $7 per person.

Now feel free to use the comment section below to make suggestions or to tell me how cool the blog images are... go!

I was actually just praying that there would be a game 5, but now that there will be I’m back to praying for monsoons. And for the Bruins to lose.

The updated forecast is not showing rain anymore.

I'll be there to start at 12. I'll need to leave by around 3:30 to catch the ferry back to Seattle. Sorry won't be able to stay for post-game festivities.

I'll be driving solo

So are we playing hockey on Saturday too? If you were really worried about rain why didn't you schedule for like May (since that's out of the way). If the bruins are on, the best team in hockey. We should consider a bar If there not on, I'm down for whatever.  Let's get the post game festivities decided so we can do it right.

We can make a list of who's bringing what: I will grab whatever, just let me know. fyi I don't have a grill.

Awesome, thanks for organizing Jake. Can't wait. Up for postgame plans too (bbq, bar, house, etc).

I'm interested in a carpool (as a passenger) for someone that can swing through Ballard.

Turnout is looking real promising - we're up to 23 people for this weekend. Unfortunately, rain is in the forecast but hopefully the weatherman is wrong, per usual. If we do end up get rained out this weekend, we have the rink booked for the following Saturday (4/28) and will try again then.

Anyway, I'd like to start to get an idea of travel arrangements and plans for after the game.

Travel

The Seattle -> Bainbridge ferry leaves at 6:10am, 7:55am, 8:55am, 9:35am, 10:40am, 11:25am on Saturday morning.  The Bainbridge -> Seattle ferry leaves at 3:50pm, 4:45pm, 5:35pm, 6:25pm, 7:20pm, 8:10pm (link).

I am planning on driving and have 2 open seats in my car along with plenty of room for gear.

Postgame

Are people more interesting in grilling at the park afterwards or heading out to a bar to watch the afternoon playoff games (NJD vs TBL, BOS vs TOR, WSH vs CBJ, VGK vs LAK)? Also, is anyone interested in trying to get a group house for a Saturday night and not drive back until Sunday?

Please add comments with your preferences and ideas as well as carpool availability. And pray for no rain (except Dan Mach who will be actively praying for a monsoon on the 21st).

Hey Jake, I'll be coming up with Matt H. and another plus one named Adam C.   Adam C. and I can play for either team.  I used to play hockey with Matt H. way back and really looking forward to a game again.
