I'm still new to SSH but it sounds like it's been a while since we've done an East vs. West game. I think it'd be fun to get the game going again.

A few of us have been tossing around the idea of playing the game out at the Bainbridge Island rink some time between now and the Can/Am game. It would make for a good warm up before the United States of America lays waste to the Great White North on June 2nd.

The initial proposal is to divide Canada along the Manitoba/Ontario border and to divide the US along the Mississippi River. Hopefully this shakes out to even teams but we can move around people if need be. Here's a map for those of you that skipped geography:

In order to gauge interest for the game, please fill out this Google Form: https://goo.gl/forms/syGmTNieodDT3HFM2

There a few different options for dates based on what the Bainbridge Island parks coordinator indicated was reservable. Once we have enough people committed to playing, I will go ahead and put down a deposit for the rink. It's $22/hr plus a $5 "you don't live on our island" fee. If we get a 5hr slot and 16 players (5 on 5 plus 3 subs each), the reservation comes out to $7 per person.

Now feel free to use the comment section below to make suggestions or to tell me how cool the blog images are... go!

Full rain could be awesome... I'll bring full pads and we can just go for it.  Nothing a little whiskey can't fix. This is the only Saturday I have open for a while, so I'm down for whatever.  (Except for the random roller drop-in in Everett on Wednesday...)

I would also prefer to taint an island bar before we leave.

Cam, never said anything about having an issue going to a bar in gear and sweaty. I just like the idea of finishing up, drinking and eating right after and getting 30 mins on the ferry to sober up a little. Rather getting on the ferry, then going to a bar in Seattle. By that point, I'd rather go home. It ruins all the momentum. I cleared my schedule for the day, so I don't care what we do.

Cam, I meant it will be bad not smelly stink. Thanks for the comment though

played a lot of ball hockey on this surface as a kid. we used to play in a good amount of rain. it’s definitely slick - we used to spray hairspray on the bottoms of our shoes which helps quite a bit.

then we’d walk uphill to and from the rink. back in my day.

I'm never one to back away from rain, nor do I put much faith in weather reports. For most of my hikes and camp outs its rain or shine. If it is dangerous weather for one of those events we still go out just adjust what we're doing but still get out.

Robert, we go to Olaf's in Ballard every Saturday after SSH in our gear. No big "stinkin" deal. This is pretty simple. We make the call at 9 AM Saturday. If we go to Bainbridge, we decide if the local bars after will work, and if not, we hop on the ferry and come to Ballard (or wherever). Don't bother with BBQ stuff. If we cancel the Bainbridge trip, it's a normal Saturday schedule.

Let's do what Cam suggests and call it at 9am Saturday if the weather is shite.  Cancelling this 3 days before based on a forecast is foolish. We all agree we won't go if it rains so everyone stay tuned to this site Saturday morning.

After playing on similar surfaces this type of surface is unplayable when wet.  Also prefer Bar over BBQ.

I will be driving to the island.  I will be bringing Mark, and have room for 3 more, but it will be tight and contain goalie gear.

I'm very excited for this but I hate to be the debbie downer here but it really may be better to post tone till next month. If we do the bar route. It will stink if we need to get back on the ferry then go to a bar in Seattle.

From what I read on the roller hockey league's website,  they cancel due to smallest amount of rain. We had a similar rink back east, and it was very slick when wet.

But I'm looking at the weather, and it says 56 with no rain. We should call some bars on bainbridge, and see if they would put the hockey games on. And let them know we're coming.

Just being devil's advocate here.

I can't speak to how the surface of the Bainbridge rink plays after rain, but there's a tennis court close by(in the same park) that we could potentially use as a backup if we find it is unplayable.  I will bring my full size net with me to use on the court just in case.
