Vegas Tournament in February Details [Update from the Commish below original post]

I spoke to the organizer for the Vegas tournament today, and they have two spots left. We would need to send a check ASAP to confirm our spot. Cost is $650/team, with a $200 deposit due this week. Details are below, but please let me know ASAP if you can commit to going. I'm happy to happy to help organize this, if somebody else would like to chip in as well.

Thanks,

Kevin

===================================================

· Dates February 8,9&10, 2008 (Friday games start in the morning)

· The actual game schedule comes out the week before the tournament, but first game is Friday morning, and the final championship game (if we make it that far) would be Sunday night. Therefore, you would have to fly in on the Thursday and out late on Sunday, or early morning Monday.

· There will be 20 open division teams. 18 spots are full, and there are 9 remaining teams vying for the last two spots. The Rec division is already full and closed.

· Teams confirmed are from: Chicago, Atlanta, Connecticut, Tampa Bay, New Jersey, Toronto, Calgary (3 teams), Vancouver (2 Teams), California (A bunch up and down the state), Seattle?

· Required Equipment: Matching Jerseys, Gloves (no bare palms), Shin Pads (Soccer pads are OK, prefers hockey shin pads). Eye protection isn’t mandatory, but strongly encouraged

· Max of 18 players/team. Recommends 2 forward lines, 3 defense, 2 goalies though. Last year’s winners had 18. They run approx 45 second shifts. Red line offsides, and blue line icing.

· First Game starts Friday Morning, February 8th- Last Game, Early Sunday Evening (7pm ish)

· Schedule comes out one week before tournament.

· Cost per team- $650.

· Level of Play- He says a good balance. Some superstars, some not so good. Average age of player in Vegas will be mid-30’s.

· Two docs attached that cover rules, and accommodations.

This is an update I received from the Organizer this morning (Nov 29th)

Kevin,
No worries........just wanted to make you guys fully aware of what to expect in the event that you participated in the tourney. Feel free to post my email (not my best work....LOL).........I periodically visit/post at the San Francisco and San Diego message boards........trying to foster a sense of community in an effort to promote the sport on the West Coast.

No check yet.......from anyone, so the spots are still open. I'll keep you posted, my friend.

Kevin,
Doing a little internet surfing this evening and I checked out your website in a little more detail. Saw the post you had up about Vegas........fear I may have misled you a little bit and wanted to clarify things a bit.......

**Lines - recommend 3 full lines + goalie (2 goalies are fine). If you don't have the numbers, I "HIGHLY" recommend you load up the depth at forward (3 lines) and short the defense a bit.

**Rink is well over 180' by 90' in size, so the lines will be in all out sprint mode throughout the entire course of the game. This is why shifts are so short (45-60 seconds) and why you NEED depth at forward.

**Host hotels need to be booked through our travel aganet in order to get the discount on rooms.

**Skill level - will vary from good to phenomenal. Playoffs will settle into like-skilled teams based upon each team's performance during pool play. Below is a listing of the National U.S. Rankings found on the Cool Hockey Events website.......I'll highlight the teams we have confirmed thus far.

**Confirmed teams will be listed below.

Just wanted to make you fully aware of what to expect if you attend the event. I'll be sending out an update later this week likely confirming our final list of teams participating in February. Please let me know if you have any questions/concerns.

Regards,

Terry
