Why the fack did they not re-sign Brian Burke when they had the chance. Burke was the best thing to happen to the Canucks since Pat Quinn. But no, they wanted to rebuild "from within" in their front office, and Nonis laid an egg the past 3 seasons. The only good thing he did was sign Luongo. What a waste of three years.

Brian Burke??? Brian Burke is the worst GM in the league, bar none (now that John Ferguson is gone). he screwed up the Canucks, he screwed up the Anaheim Ducks after inheriting a team that should have been a Cup contender for years to come. what exactly did Nonis do that would resemble laying an egg?? It's well known by anyone that knows anything about Vancouver Canucks hockey that his hands were tied by stupid contracts signed during Burke's tenure. This summer was his only chance to do anything with the line-up because of the lack of salary cap space up until now. And Bieksa is probably the least untouchable since he's their only signed defenceman without a no-trade clause. And everyone who cares about Vancouver should extremely happy it WASN'T Burke who got re-hired in Vancouver. All we can hope for now is Burke to get hired in TO so he can screw that team up, or keep them screwed up, for years to come.

Nonis was a dummy but what a steal, Luongo for Berts, best trade of all time...
The new GM should have "carte blanche" to totally rebuild the team. I'd say the only untouchables are Luongo and Bieksa. Everybody else is expendable. Rumors are Burke might get a second shot in YVR...
