Seattle's NHL dreams

KIRO news reporting the Phoenix Coyotes may be heading to Seattle if talks to keep them in AZ don't work out. We need to get Doan out for some SSH when he gets to town.

SSH does Europe

In keeping with the "Go big or go home" theme, let's put a posse together for the IIHF in Scandinavia this May.  Icelandair gets us over there, I have some connections for lodging in Stockholm and we finally get to see some real hockey!  Vegas will be a distant memory, there's time to convince the wife that this is necessary for mental well-being through the summer months and we'll have taken the SSH road trip to a new, inter-continental level... a natural progression from Tucson, Vegas and…

UPDATE: Silvertips vs Thunderbirds, Sat. Oct 27th @ 7:05 PM

Heads up to those planning on attending the game on Saturday.  I just spoke with the guy in the Silvertips ticket office and he said this game could actually sell out.  Remember that it's promoting breast cancer awareness, it has been heavily promoted, it's a game against the Thunderbirds so you'll have people coming up from Kent and Seattle to follow their team, etc etc.

Put your carpool together and grab your tickets online now!  I got 4 tix for the peeps I know are…

Silvertips vs Thunderbirds in Everett post East-West game

Saturday, October 27th the Everett Silvertips play the Thunderbirds in Everett the evening of the East-West game.  Proceeds from the game support the fight against breast cancer.  Tickets are $15.  We had a good time in Portland at the Winterhawks game so given the lack of NHL action this is a decent alternative to get our hockey fix locally.  I've heard back from about six so far who are in.  Just want to get the word out.  Should be a good time.

Discounted prices available…

Check NHL.COM: Tim Thomas brings the Cup to Vermont. Yeah baby!!!

This is some great footage of Thomas sharing the Cup with Burlington, VT.  He also receives an award from the school and gives a nice speech about his college hockey experience.

Funny enough, they interview Ted Madden who is now the President of UVM Alumni Relations.  He and I were JV hockey teammates at UVM in 1988. He was a great shot blocker.  I remember the coach yelling, "Big balls, Teddy!"…

Poetry in motion

There's  about 30 seconds of footage on NHL.COM right now of Crosby doing some drills and undressing a goalie in the process. I recommend you check it out.  Not sure how recent it is, but it's awesome to be reminded of what a phenomenal talent we've been missing since January.  Keep your fingers crossed that we'll be seeing him in top shape this fall.

BTW...they say Malkin has bulked up and has been doing two-a-days all summer.  Geno is back, Benny is…

Passing this on

If You Received this Email from Me, You Are A Hockey Bud.

I found this article on Yahoo Sports.  If you look at the list I sent it to, you will see much more of the meaning...

I'm coming off five days at the fourth annual Hockey Greats Fantasy Camp in Kelowna, BC, an event hosted by my dad. He pulled together a dozen ex-NHL beauties whose verbal filters pretty much went the way of tube skates (which one of our guests happened to be wearing by the way, Bauer Black…

Canucks Hospitality Suite (2011-2012)

It's that time of year again, lads.  I just got the email from Canucks tix sales about reserving a hospitality suite.  And guess what, prices have gone up again!

It's $5450 for a suite with 24 tix.  This comes out to about $225/person.  The suite now includes a $500 food and beverage credit which Payette would likely absorb by the first intermission, leaving the rest of us to purchase…

Vegas 2011

Guys,

In order for Tsunami to go to the next level, I think we all need to improve our flexibility. I've posted a stretching video made especially for SSH. The stretches are really amazing!

I suggest we pool enough money together to hire…

Canucks game-hospitality suite

Looks like prices have gone up since last year. A hospitality suite w/ 24 tickets included is now a cool $5000 before GST. This comes out to about $210/person plus taxes. I'm inclined to watch on TV and buy individual tix for a particular game if others are interested in a road trip to Van. Perhaps we could watch Craigslist and see if there are 6-10 tix for some games once the season starts.

Cheers!

Kid friendly?

Hey Bubbles,

I have no problem w/ kids coming along. My dog is a bit of a freak around kids cuz he doesn't understand them and I can't vouch for Peto's behavior either. Other than that, the kids should be fine.

Damn fine goal, Bubbles. Most definitely a high point of the tourny. Now we gotta figure out why the Tsunami resembles a raindrop when it hits the floor in tournament play.

Post street hockey BBQ

Hey fellahs,

I'm thinking this is a good weekend for us to get our party on at my place after street hockey. First disclaimer is that I'm a bachelor and don't have a bunch of lawn furniture like the Peto's, a clean house like the Payettes and a full array of kitchen utensils and shit like the rest of you domesticated "Good Housekeeping" readers. So I just figure we say, I fire up the grill, you bring some beers and some meat to cook up. If your last name starts with A-J bring a… Continue
