We live in a democracy (at least until McCain wins) so I'll speak my mind: I don't like the mini-team ideas that have been floating around. What's the point of having a US vs Canada game if it could end up being Can vs Can (or US vs US) in the finals? I say let's keep it simple like we did last year, a big Can vs US rumble.

I know some people have been voicing complaints about there being too many people on each team last year, and a lot of standing around on the sidelines because of it. IMHO any concerns about too many players can be dispelled by us enforcing mandatory line changes. For example whenever a goalie freezes the ball, a goal is scored, or the ball is sent out of bounds both teams have to do a wholesale line change. Changing on the fly of course would continue as is. Having 4 + teams will only guarantee more standing around than last year, while we wait 20 minutes (or 40!) for our team to play next.

Plus, evenly distributing players so that each of the mini-teams is equal I think is easier said than done. This could only remotely work if all the goalies were of the same skill level, which they're not. (Goalies, don't take offense. Besides I freely admit I'm more of a pylon than a sniper).

A'ight, I said my peace. Either way I'm looking forward to the big gameday this weekend!

As it stands right now, how many players do we have on each team so far?

Good point Mike. Plus, the extra standing around time allows for beer breaks on the sidelines. Vitamin Molson is our secret weapon.

Sadly, I will not be attending this year, which is good news for you guys... one less dude to work into the rotation :-) Have fun everyone, I know I'll be missing out on the festivities!

Hey there. I'm in town for the next four weeks down from beautiful (although not as beautiful as Seattle) Montreal, Canada. I'd love to join you guys for what looks like some awesome street hockey games you've got here, however I don't have any equipment beside running shoes... Any chance someone can lend me a stick? I'm left handed.

Hey fellas,
I got 4 guys from the Olympia Breakers that want to come up and represent for the US of A. A couple of us chatted with a few guys at the bar after the game on Saturday and were invited to come down, just wanted to make sure we were welcome as we didn't want to invite ourselves!

On Format. Gregg's talked to a bunch of us about this and there's really no perfect way to make all happy. I got my view as does everyone else. Kudos to Schneuer for making it happen. The best way this will go down is if we all just let Gregg tell us the plan cause he's spent more time and energy than anyone else. Lookin forward to it.

Agreed, Rainer. Whatever Gregg says, goes.
