hey what's up adam. how did the surgery go? man, sadly i've used one of those mobile carts before after my achilles surgery. that damn thing only moves like a mile per hour! I had people walking by me faster than I was driving. hope the recovery is going well!
Hey Adam
Mike mentioned that you got your knee pads from some site for only $20 or so. Do you remember which site that was. Are they D-gel. Good hustle out there last week.
Cheers
Thanks for the feedback, Adam. Every muscle in my body ached on Sunday, and more on Monday, but in a good way. Felt great to bust my ass after 1.5 months off.
>> Availability for fence tinkering: Wed-Fri night (in the dark), or Saturday before hockey. Call me to set up: 323-9344. Left same for Vin.
saturday would be the earliest b/c i need to procure more material-- fencing, strap-ties, etc. i'll let you know by friday if i'm ready to try on saturday. if so i figure a 12PM start isn't unrealistic as i'm sure there will be bugs to work out.
adam check out the silt fencing i was telling you about the other night at st. andrews-- which you may have forgotten about b/c you were so buzzed! ; -D
Thanks for the energy you're bringing to our little street hockey community!
Answering the questions in your comment to me :
I'm absolutely fine with playing all of our games at Greenwood Elementary rather than switching back and forth with St.John's. GE is a better flatter surface that is not encumbered by cars, priests, etc.
As you said, any board solution needs to be simple, cheap, portable and effective... Not trivial...
I'm also all for moving to Magnuson park if the city builds a proper hockey rink with boards, etc.. I would strongly advocate an outdoor rink. Less fuss, more fun! Recently, Arena sports used to organize an indoor inline hockey league at Magnuson Park but it folded. Ideally, the hockey court would be similar to outdoor tennis courts. The city would maintain it in the same manner. An informal reservation system could be put in place to guarantee availibility.
I know of at least 2-3 other inline hockey groups who would also love to have good place to play! I'm sure the Lacrosse guys would also be thrilled to have a box Lacrosse playing field!
SSH got started about 5 years ago by a couple guys, Alan Edwards and Tom Adams, who got off the couch and started shooting a ball at a wall. The weekly Saturday street hockey games grew organically through word of mouth to what it is today. Now, the SSH website has over 55 members and on most weekends, 20 people show up to play. Over the years, I would say over 100 different people have showed up, thrown their sticks in the middle and played a game of good ole playground hockey.
Let me know if you need any help to lobby the city. A proper outdoor hockey court would make for a great legacy to the city of Seattle.

We could use this article as a blueprint for a Seattle city rink proposal.
