Seattle Street Hockey East/West Game

Sat Aug 16, 2014

Battle Point Park, Bainbridge Island, WA

Please mark your calendars for the annual Bainbridge game which will also double as the East/West game.  Your regular Bainbridge guru Steve W will not be available this year to plan it so Kramer, I mean Koh, has appointed me as the planner.

Please post on here to RSVP for the event so that we can get a headcount.  And since everyone is always hesitant to commit unless we have 2 confirmed goalies, I will confirm now that I will be in net for the games. (I'll play for West.) We just need 1 more goalie. If multiple goalies are coming out, I will be happy to share netminding duties with someone else.

Besides playing on the nice outdoor rink, we'll plan on having a skills contest similar to the NHL All-Star skills contest (but with markedly less skill.)

Afterwards we can plan on visiting a local establishment for drinks, food and trash talk before catching the ferries home.

As this is on Bainbridge Island, we'll need to take the ferry over. Carpooling would make things much easier and cheaper.  Further details about the ferry and timing to follow, but I'll let everyone else arrange carpooling plans yourselves.

Red line marks separation between East & West. If your hometown is West of the line you play for the West, if your hometown is East of the line you play for the East.

Tanner the game has been postponed until October. Date TBA. That'll give you more time to rehab that ankle. We'll be at Salmon Bay this weekend if you want to test out the ankle.

Hey Dean,

My ankle is less healed this week than I had hoped, so chances are slim that I will be able to play a single line game for more than a few shifts - Sorry!

Sorry guys, can't make it.  I'll try to make the fall event if there is one.

October is more likely for me.  I can't make the 16th.  Thanks for organizing.

Thanks to all that replied already.

I was just planning to send out another e-mail/message with details about the game this coming Saturday.  Cam Green mentioned (see below) that a few of you were talking at the game this past Saturday (I was not present) about postponing the game until the fall.  We haven't had a huge turnout for the game with people on summer vacation and a few previous committed people having to back out.  Right now we still have about 1 full line with no subs for each team. Given how big the playing surface is, people like likely get tired quickly. We are also doing a skills contest which will give us some relative downtime. We can also just take longer breaks to rest up.
To those coming on Sat Aug 16: do you still want to play on Bainbridge with the rosters we have now or do you want to postpone?
For those not able to come this time: if we did another game in the fall (maybe October), who would be interested/available for that?
(For the record, I'm still down to play on Saturday)
Please let me know ASAP so that I can make arrangements.

Dean/Koh, there was some discussion this weekend that we don't have a lot of players and definitely not very deep benches for Bainbridge East/West this Sat. Given the surface is soooooo big, not having deep benches will be tough. So, a few of us were wondering if it makes any sense to delay the East/West game until the fall when more players are available? Just a thought, but wanted to put it out there for you guys to decide.

Out for west.  Tried to swing it but weekends in July and August are prime summer vacation out-of-town weekends.  Don't we usually do the East/West in spring or fall?
