PLAYERS STILL NEEDED - Everett Silvertips 4 on 4 Hockey Challenge - This Saturday July 17, 2010

As of Wednesday 7/14, we are still looking for a couple of players. Please let me know if interested.

I have registered a team for the above tournament and am looking for players who are interested in playing this Saturday, July 17th. Individual player fee is $20 and includes a ticket to the Silvertips home opener. See the attached for more information on the tourney:

Please email me at roba@trautmannmaher.com if you are interested in playing. We have a goalie and are trying to fill in the remaining players.

Thanks,

Rob

UPDATE: Just received the following email with more information on the Tourney:

Thanks again to all participants of the inaugural Silvertips Street Hockey Challenge! We apologize in the delay getting this information to you – we were ready to release this yesterday, but an internet server at work decided not to cooperate, throwing our Monday for a bit of a loop…

Team Captains: Please forward this to all members of your team.

The complete schedule will be announced on Thursday.

In anticipation of this Saturday’s Silvertips Street Hockey Challenge, please be advised that:

  • Brackets and the complete schedule will be posted online later in the week & emailed to Team Captains. We thank the Team Captains for doing their part in getting all information to all participating players quickly.

  • Games will begin as early as 12:00 noon on Saturday, and will continue until roughly 6:00-7:00 pm. Games will be played, rain or shine. The complete schedule, including pool play and elimination brackets, will be posted on EverettSilvertips.com later this week and will be displayed throughout the event.

  • The Silvertips Street Hockey Challenge will be played in the parking lot across the street from Comcast Arena at the corner of Hewitt and Lombard. Three rinks will be installed in the current lot, complete with restrooms, a concessions stand, registration, and ample room for Lincoln to roam freely. Free parking is available all-day Saturday on Lombard Avenue and California Street; the Port Gardner lot is also available at California and Rockefeller for a fee.

  • B.Y.O.E. Bring your own equipment. We won’t be able to provide sticks, shin pads, or helmets, so make sure there are means for your team to be well-equipped before the tournament. We have three sets of goaltending gear, but it is strongly recommended that all teams provide their own goaltending equipment. Be creative – we’ve seen pillows used as shin pads before.

  • Participants 14 years of age and younger: Use Eyewear. All participants 14 and younger must be using protective eyewear at the Silvertips Street Hockey Challenge. Goggles are recommended; sunglasses are acceptable. Lowe’s Hardware has several varieties of protective goggles for purchase. Helmets are recommended for all players in the 9-12 age group.

  • Look for your name in The Herald. The Herald will be providing coverage throughout the day of the event, posting updates, results, brackets, and leading goal scorers in the respective age groups both online and in print. Net a hat trick in the championship game? Read about it in the Sunday morning Herald, along with top scorers and all-tournament teams.

  • Bring the family! Former Silvertip Captain Mitch Love and current active Silvertips scoring leader Kellan Tochkin will be hanging out and talking some hockey. Bring your camera and a sharpie! Though Lincoln usually hibernates outside of hockey season, we’re going to wake him up for this event. Apologies if he’s groggy. Times and complete player availability will be announced later in the week.

  • Registration: 30 minutes before your first game. Team Captains will need to sign in at the registration booth 30 minutes before their first game is scheduled. All waiver forms (available here) must be turned in at least 10 minutes prior to the start of a team’s first game. All Team Captains must also check in with Silvertips staff 10 minutes before the start of each game.

  • There will be a three minute warm-up before every game. We’re looking to get 60-80 games played over the course of the afternoon, so, in other words, don’t plan on a team viewing of Dances With Wolves in between games. Each game will feature a three-minute warm-up and a two-minute grace period should there be a straggler or two.

  • Games will be 20 minutes long. The game format will be two 10-minute halves, separated by a two-minute intermission. Because of the volume of games, we will be enforcing all time limits.

  • For full rules and regulations, please refer to the Hockey Challenge link on the Silvertips Website (starts on page 3 of http://www.everettsilvertips.com/news/images/2010%20Hockey%20Challenge.pdf ). Referees from the Cascade Hockey Officials Association and local leagues will be enforcing all penalties, and penalty shots will be awarded in lieu of power plays. There will be no tolerance for cheap shots or intimidation penalties, which will result in the infracting player’s removal from the tournament.

  • You may already be a winner. Teams that win their age brackets will receive a Silvertips Game Experience Package, which includes an intermission ride on a Silvertips Zamboni and the opportunity to watch the pre-game warm-ups from ice level. All participants of Championship-winning teams will also receive a puck signed by the current Silvertip of their choice.

  • All participating players receive a ticket for the season opener, Saturday September 25th vs Vancouver. Tickets will be mailed to Team Captains once they have been printed following the schedule release in early August.

  • The Fan Zamboni will be on hand. Don’t forget your camera!

  • Good weather is in store. As of Monday afternoon, the projected high temperature in Everett on Saturday is 70 degrees. As always, bring layers should sudden changes in weather occur. The tournament will be held, rain or shine. A water cooler will be available, but we recommend bringing your own water.
